The entire system, including buses, DATS, and trains will stop at 11am for one minute to pay special tribute to all Canadian Veterans, if it is safe to do so.ĭATS will operate on a holiday schedule on Remembrance Day. ETS will also participate in Remembrance Day by recognizing a moment of silence at 11am on November 11. On this day, ETS buses will operate on Saturday schedules. On November 11, travel on Edmonton Transit is free for veterans and active members who are in military uniform or legion dress, with a Canadian Forces or RCMP identification card, or with a Veterans' card or National Defence Record card identifying the individual as past or current military personnel. Those who choose to go to a municipal cemetery this Remembrance Day are asked to continue to observe public health guidelines by staying 2 metres apart from others, and wearing a face covering or mask if physical distancing is not possible. There are no ceremonies at Edmonton’s Municipal Cemeteries on Remembrance Day, however, they may serve as places for calm and quiet reflection. Poppies may be laid at a local Cenotaph, if this can be done safely in accordance with the social distancing guidelines provided by Alberta's Chief Medical Officer of Health. This can be done by observing a private moment of reflection, making poppies to hang in your window, or taking time to learn about Canada’s rich military history. To honour the contributions of military personnel, both past and present, who have served in times of war and peace, Edmontonians are encouraged to observe this important day in other meaningful ways. Guests in attendance are asked to adhere to all public health restrictions currently in place, including maintaining physical distance from those from other households. This year, due to the health risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no indoor public Remembrance Day ceremony inside City Hall, however a short ceremony will take place outside at the Cenotaph on the City Hall Plaza.
